Zhang Hanyu is decked out gorgeously again for Princess of Orchid Hills

Kuo, I think you mentioned that it seems the stylist liked light colors? They love those of us at Cfensi a lot, and decided to prove us wrong…

Did you think that Zhang Hanyu‘s peacock costume was stunning? There’s more to come. Here’s to a stunning wedding photo shoot from The Princess of Orchid Hills. One wonder who she’s dressed out for: at some point, she marries Yuwen Yong and becomes his empress. There won’t be a shortage of romantic entanglements here; the number one beauty of the Western Qi is Xiao Luoyun (played by Wang Jiexi), the fiancée of the very adorable Prince of Lanling (Andy Yi Chen). Coming on with an unrequited love for Yuwen Yong is Hua Yihan‘s Yan Wan – and on top of that, we’re throwing in the Mongolian Princess Ashina, played by Theresa Fu

Read an introduction here. Look below the cut for more pictures – even if you don’t plan on watching the series, there’s tons of eye candy to be admired…  Continue reading

Looking forward to Upcoming Chinese films in 2014

Ge You and Jiang Wen as showmasters in the movie, Gone With the Bullets.

Ge You and Jiang Wen as show masters in the upcoming movie, Gone With the Bullets.

The year is almost a quarter over (I know!), but 2014 is a really exciting year for Chinese film and it would be a waste not to take a look at all the great stuff that’s going to be released soon. This year, as some have noted, will be the year of big director comebacks, from Red Cliff’s John Woo to Zhang Yimou and many others. (Thanks to Mookie for everything about this post, I’m just here to spread the word.)

(Also, you’ll soon realize that Huang Xiao Ming does not rest… I believe he has at least 4 films this year alone, excluding dramas!!)

This list is in no way exhaustive. Continue reading

A Prince of Orchid Hills that actually needs a mask

The fairest of them all, even without cross-dressing?

I’m beginning to think that another reason this Prince of Orchid Hills would wear a mask is to protect his cute features – better a nick in the mask than a scar on the cheek! The drama, based on a 2009 novel of the same name, stars Andy Chen Yi and Baby Zhang Hanyu. More pictures below the cut.

In this legend, instead of a magic heaven maiden, a person needs the Qingluan mirror and Lican sword to unite and rule the country. These treasures were once the treasures of the Dragon Sect, but because of the times’ turbulence have been lost. Before dying, the priestess of the Dragon Sect told its last member – Duanmu Ling (Zhang Hanyu)- the  location of the two treasures. She also warned Duanmu Ling that these treasures could not, under any circumstances, fall into the hands of the unscrupulous, for only the true son of heaven was worthy of using them. (More synopsis below the cut).  Continue reading

Huang Xiaoming Sings the Second Theme for “The Message”, Cast Does Cosmo

163_10329_950991

Huang Xiaoming, Li Bingbing, and Zhang Hanyu

Three of the actors of the film, including Huang Xiaoming graced this month’s cover for Cosmo; the rest of that shoot behind the cut. I really hope there are outtakes, because the HXM + LBB ones  in the vid below looked cute. Although what I really want for a photoshoot is one with  LBB and Zhou Xun.

Behind the Scenes of the Cosmo Shoot:

The theme song sung by Huang Xiaoming is below the cut, because after watching the Cosmo shoot vid, I decided it was cuter.

“The Message” Teaser Trailer Gives Small Preview of Bloody Scenes

Although the teaser for the big budget Feng Sheng/ The Sound of Wind, or the Message , showed only about two seconds of each big-name actor, what it did show was startling for its graphic content (for a mainland movie), and Zhang Hanyu (the actor who was receiving punishment in the teaser) said that this was the tip of the iceberg only.  But it should be all worth it come release time, because it expects a huge box office.

Hua Yi Spares No Expense for The Message

4220xtylnfengsheng6

The Message (Feng Sheng) movie continues to get the special treatment from Hua Yi, at this point clearly the most powerful entertainment company in China. Earlier, I mentioned that in a strange and rare move, Hua Yi had casted all of its biggest stars for Sound of Wind…Zhou Xun, Li Bingbing, Huang Xiaoming, and Zhang Hanyu, showing how important it was to them. Even Alec Su has been relegated to a supporting role. Now with pictures revealing the rich detail of the set, it’s shown that Hua Yi is sparing no expense for the production costs either, saying it was “without limits”. Zhou Xun marveled excitedly that it’s the most lavish set she’s ever been on, and both she and Li Bingbing says that this will be the new definitive work of their career.
