Impending release for The Princess Weiyang

It’s nice how this production balanced between releasing too much and too little content leading up to airing.

The Princess Weiyang (Weiyoung) is going to air on November 11th.  Starring Tang Yan, Luo Jin, Vanness Wu, Li Xin’ai, Mao Xiaotong, and Liang Zhenlun, hopefully this means that other dramas will also start coming out soon.

The Princess Weiyang new trailer and speculations

After looking at these posters, I am reminded of how far China has come in terms of drama productions.  Only a couple years ago, I would have been ranting and raving about this drama.  It’s still good but the sheer amount with which our standards have progressed is astounding.

The Princess Weiyang (Weiyoung) has more character posters and a new trailer.  Starring Tang Yan, Luo Jin, Vanness Wu, Li Xin’ai, Mao Xiaotong, and Liang Zhenlun, hopefully this means that the projected November release date has some weight behind it.

28th Golden Eagle Awards

zco0ur5

Please excuse me as I take a trip down memory lane…

The Golden Eagle Awards is a prestigious biannual television awards ceremony, and prides itself on being “the people’s award”. Unlike the Flying Apsaras Awards (government recognition) and Magnolia Awards (industry recognition), Golden Eagle spreads the love more evenly, and usually several dramas and actors are acknowledged.

In previous years, the Best Actor and Actress of the night were decided by online voters and a panel of judges, and presented with the Audience’s Choice award (golden statue) and Best Performing Arts award (crystal statue). This year the two awards were given to different actors, with the nominee that received the most votes from the judges winning the Performing Arts award.

It’s become pretty established that China can produce glorious period dramas.  It’s just finding one with a good story and makes it through production in a way we can appreciate that is the current problem…

The Princess Weiyang (Weiyoung) has released a teaser.  Starring Tang Yan, Luo Jin, Vanness Wu, Li Xin’ai, Mao Xiaotong, and Liang Zhenlun, hopefully this is a sign that a release date may be around the corner.
