Wu Jinyan, Nie Yuan reunite in Beauty Hao Lan

How can you say you’re in love if you haven’t ran through a busy street to escape a villain?

Riding on the popularity of The Story of Yanxi Palace, Beauty Hao Lan / Legend of Haolan 皓镧传 has secured a November 15th release date. The Yu Zheng-helmed palace intrigue reunites Yanxi stars Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan. They’re joined by Mao  Zijun, Ning Jing, Tan Zhuo, Tong Mengshi and Wang Lin.

Hu Ge guest stars in Zhou Xun, Zhang Zifeng’s upcoming film Last Letter

Hu Ge (Game of Hunting), who recently wrapped up filming Wild Goose Lake, guest stars in director Shunji Iwai’s first Chinese-language feature Last Letterwhich has recently released character posters and a trailer ahead of its premiere on November 9th at the Golden Horse Film Festival. Zhou Xun plays the lead, a woman who reunites with her high school crush at a class reunion.

Over 40 celebs join in Vogue Film photoshoot

 

Three generations of Chinese actresses.

It’s rare to get this many stars to do anything together, not to mention a photoshoot where everyone’s agent is probably fighting for a better spot, but Vogue Film has done it in conjunction with its gala this year. The photoshoots includes  some of the biggest actors, including Li Bingbing, Yang Mi, Angelababy, Liu Shishi, Tong Liya, Xin Zhilei, Tan Zhuo, Huang Xuan, Ethan Ruan, Zhou Yiwei, Zhai Tianlin, Han Dongjun, Xu Weizhou, Peng Yuchang, Bai Baihe, Jing Boran, William Chan, Ma Sichun, Janine Chang, Sun Yi, Li Meng, Qi Xi, Lan Yingying, Chen Ran, Victoria Song, Ouyang Nana, Wu Lei, Chen Feiyu, Song Zuer, Yang Le, Geng Le, Li Chun, Zhang Xueying, Zhang Zifeng, and Chen Wenqi. Yu Zheng joins in on the Qing Dynasty drama parade

First it was Gong vs. Bu Bu Jing Xin, then Gong II vs. Legend of Zhen Huan, and now this time it’s Yanxi Gonglue vs. Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Yu Zheng may have toned down on the bright colours, but his lawsuit with Qiong Yao doesn’t seem to have killed off his bad habits of plagiarism.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival Comes to a Close

The Cannes Jury, including Shu Qi. They will announce the winner of the Palme d'Or on Sunday, which I'll update the post with.

The 62nd Cannes Film Festival has four films competing that have directors from the Greater China region, as well as one grand jury member and a short film jury member. There was also one Chinese actress who was supposed to be making one of her first appearances in a film after five years of inactivity, but some hack named Tarantino had to make a cut and his film Inglorious Basterds will be all the lesser for the lack of Maggie Cheung, no matter what excuses he gives. Have a litle foresight before you ask someone of her caliber to cameo next time, jerk.
