Eddie Peng (Our Time Will Come) stars as the classic character in the upcoming Wukong 悟空传, a film based off Jin Hezai’s (Tribes and Empires, Wings of Wind) novel of the same name. Ni Ni (Suddenly Seventeen) costars as his true love Ah Zi, and Ou Hao (Blood of Youth) plays General Tianpeng.
Zhao Wei sings the theme song for Alec Su‘s directorial debut The Left Ear starring Ou Hao, Chen Duling, Yang Yang, and Ma Sichun. The cast looks much better in character than expected.
Alec Su’s directorial debut The Left Ear. released its first glimpses of the female lead, a new song, and a new set of posters featuring the leads Ou Hao, Chen Duling, Yang Yang, Ma Sichun, Guan Xiaotong, Hu Xia, and Duan Bowen.
The film airs on April 30th in an attempt to get a head start on Yang Mi and Huang Xiaoming’s You’re My Sunshine and Li Yu’s Ever Since We Love starring Fan Bingbing and Han Geng, which one do you see doing the best?
Ou Hao, Yang Yang, Hu Xia, and Duan Bowen are dunked in colorful paint for the latest set of character posters for The Left Ear. The Alec Su film is set to air on April 1st this year, and still haven’t released photos of its female lead.
Once a youth icon himself, Alec Su revisits the popular themes of youths and high school once more in his directorial debut, The Left Ear 左耳. First glimpses of the mostly new male cast of Ou Hao, Yang Yang, Hu Xia, and Duan Bowen were released this week.
Fun fact: Jiang Jinfu and Lin Gengxin were the cover models for the book before going into acting. How do you think the new cast compare?
Honey, I shrunk the actors!
The eeMedia musical may be way too slow for a weekly series, but it does have the best posters. I wish eeMedia would get better scriptwriters because all their recent series have such dull scripts, which is unfortunate when they actually have good music and high production values.
If anything, with four sets of character posters, drama needs to win the award for best character posters for a drama.
Another set of gorgeous posters for eeMedia’s musical drama and Hunan TV’s first air-as-you-film series, “Song of Vengeance/Journey to the Sing & War/Star Academy”. I love eeMedia’s visual design team N13 with all my heart but I wish the promotional posters and trailers actually gave us a glimpse of what the series is actually like. At least we have eye candy along the way?
Trailer below and more character posters of the cast, including veterans Huang Yida, Qin Lan, and Wang Yaoqing, as well as first-time drama leads Fu Mengni, Chai Biyun, Xie Binbin, and Ou Hao below the cut. The series airs this Sunday.
After the weird Battle Royale-type posters, eeMedia/Hunan TV finally released posters more fitting of their first musical idol drama 唱战记! Designed by my favorite N13, the posters are bright and fun, and includes more garbling of English.
Since the series seem to have a new English name every time a new poster series is released (Song of Vengeance – > Journey to the Sing & War – > Star Academy/Music Idol Drama), I will just call it the eeMedia musical.
Character posters of the student stars Huang Yida, Fu Mengni, Chai Biyun, Ou Hao, and Xie Binbin below the cut.

A lollipop makes everything better.
If you don’t succeed once, try again. Several years after two non-hit modern musicals, Hunan TV is not ready to give up. Their latest musical series, Song of Battle 唱战记, will be yet another musical. The school-based musical will include over 50 original songs as well as many covers from coproducer ee-Media, the company best known for its music. The series stars Wang Yaoqing as a teacher seeking revenge, Qin Lan as the friendly sidekick, and Huang Yida, Chai Biyun, Fu Mengni, Ou Hao, and Xie Binbin as the students.
The posters are surprisingly bleak, but the leaked stills seem to make this still an energetic musical drama. More posters below the cut.
