River Sunset 长河落日 is an upcoming Chinese-US co-production that will focus on the events in the lead up to the Tokyo air raids of April 1942.
Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace is a 90 episode epic that will chronicle the failed marriage of Ruyi (Zhou Xun) and the Qianlong Emperor (Wallace Huo), and has just released grand posters of its cast in formal court robes (chaofu / 朝服), which is worn strictly during state ceremonies and important festivals. The historical romance drama is tentatively scheduled for a New Year premiere.
The Advisors Alliance became less addictive ever since the awesome Cao Cao (Yu Hewei) and Yang Xiu (Zhai Tianlin) passed away, but these new stills have definitely piqued my interest for part 2 of the drama.
Part 2 will focus on Sima Yi’s conflict with Zhuge Liang (Wang Luoyong) and Cao Shuang (Du Yiheng). His deteriorating relationship with the Cao family eventually paves the way for the Sima family’s coup d’état.
The Advisors Alliance: Howling Tiger, Roaring Dragon is set to air sometime in the Fall.
The Advisors Alliance takes viewers to the ever-popular Three Kingdoms era, and this time the entire story will be told from Sima Yi’s (Wu Xiubo) perspective. Liu Tao (Ode to Joy 2) plays his fierce wife Zhang Chunhua while Janine Chang (Midnight Diner) plays Bai Lingyun, a spy from the Cao faction and Sima Yi’s concubine. Xiao Shunyao and Tan Jianci from M.I.C. costar as sons Sima Shi and Sima Zhao.
On the other side we have the Cao household, led by Yu Hewei (I Am Not Madame Bovary) as warlord Cao Cao and Li Chen (variety show Keep Running) as Cao Pi. Tang Yixin (Psychologist) and Zhang Zhixi (Three Heroes and Five Gallants) star as the latter’s consorts.
Huang Xiaoming (Xuan Zang) and Janine Chang (Jade) are confirmed to star in Here to Heart 温暖的弦, the drama adaption of An Ning’s classic romance novel Warm Chord.
Here are some wonderful new stills for Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace, a 90 episode historical romance drama which focuses on the deterioration of Ruyi (Zhou Xun) and Hongli’s (Wallace Huo) relationship once the latter ascends the throne as the Qianlong Emperor. Really, the tagline says it all.
The stars featured below include Janine Chang as best friend Hailan, Dong Jie as Qianlong’s jealous first Empress, Tong Yao as the feisty Gao Xiyue, Xin Zhilei as Jin Yuyan, Vivian Wu as Zhenhuan, Li Chun as the scheming Wei Yanwan and Hu Ke as the naive Su Lvyun.
I think I’ve said all I can about this drama in previous posts, so bask in the pretty below!
Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace 后宫·如懿传 has released more images of the wide cast of characters. Starring Zhou Xun, Wallace Huo, Janine Chang, Li Chun, Dong Jie, Tong Yao, Chen Haoyu, Xin Zhilei, Zeng Yixuan, Wu Junmei (Vivian Wu), Chen Xiaoyun, Huang Ming, Jing Chao, Li Qin, Yuan Wenkang, Hu Ke, Zhang Jiazhu, Cao Xiwen, Yu Yang, and He Hongshan, I am assuming these are simply costumes for more minor characters but that in itself is pretty mind-blowing.
More below the cut.
I’ve been trying to keep my expectations low for Tribes and Empires, but the release of another fantastic trailer isn’t helping.
Huang Xuan (Extraordinary Mission) stars the half-human half-spirit prince Muyun Sheng, Shawn Dou (The Last Race) is the abandoned son of a loyal general and Zhou Yiwei (The Insanity) plays the heir of one of the nomadic tribes. Their love interests are played by Janice Man, Xu Lu and Zhang Jianing respectively.
