Wu Modi is Disney acid sequence colorful for her new photoshoot, while Ni Ni‘s first photoshoot in this round up is completely black. In the other one, she catches a few waves at the beach – for those of us in the northern hemisphere, summer is starting to eck to an end…Meanwhile, Donnie Yen suits up for Bazaar, and Zhang Han slicks back his hair. The Monkey King in 3D releases trailer, character posters

Making exciting-looking posters has become stuffing as many copies of the Monkey King as we can on it while also preferably using a battle scene as a background.

Much delayed and highly anticipated film The Monkey King in 3D starring Donnie Yen, Chow Yun-fat, Aaron Kwok, Joe Chen, Peter Ho, Zhang Zilin, among others has released production goodies, hopefully signifying that this newest release date will actually be the real one.  The Monkey King is yet another spinoff of Journey to the West without the actual journey, this time focusing on the Monkey King wrecking havoc in the heavens.

Trailer below, second trailer here, behind-the-scenes here, and character posters below the cut.

Nicholas Tse, who just released his purported “last” album, has begun filming for his new movie, Bodyguards and Assassins,  set in Hong Kong during the Qing Dynasty. Despite playing a rather bottom of the rung character, who is billed as “the rickshaw driver”, he is the lead of this star-filled, big-budgeted tale about many who protected Dr. Sun Yat-sen during a trip the famed leader took to Hong Kong in October of 1905 (the film title in Chinese is Besieged in October).

Chinese Celebrities When They Were Young

I said I would do a special fun post in exchange for someone making my banner when site hit 10,000. Well, here it is as promised, although nobody ever made me a banner. :( This is still incomplete…I don’t have a few people in here, and I wanted to put an after pic of everyone, but I got way too tired of that so I only put some for some people I didn’t think people would know (like all the mainland guys apparently), but eventually I will update this and make it the most comprehensive Chinese celeb baby picture list ever.

Love or hate her, you’ve got to admit Liu Yifei was one of the most adorable children ever.

More of cute adorable children behind the cut. I think it’s really rare for Chinese people to do plastic surgery (as of now) so this won’t be one of those “spot the differences” posts. This took a lot of time and effort to put together, so PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND POST ANYWHERE ELSE, w/o permission.

Painted Skin Opens in China This Weekend

The newest big-name movie, featuring a cast of mainland A-listers including hottie Chen Kun, Zhao Wei, Zhou Xun, and Sun Li as well as Hong Kong favorite, Donnie Yen. The movie is one of many adaptations of “The Strange Tales of Liao Zhai” which features many supernatural stories, but is probably the highest budgeted one to-date. This, along with last week’s thriller, The Deserted Inn, marks two supernatural thrillers in a row for China, which may be unprecedented.

This film is also the first time former classmates, Chen Kun and Zhao Wei have acted together as an on-screen couple, hyped by some of the first movie stills released from the film. Vicky Zhao Wei has already been heavily praised for her acting in this film, giving an emotionally charged performance that just may be one of her best and a large step away from the tomboyish ‘Swallow” character that brought her international fame in Huang Zhu Ge Ge.
