Promo Round-up: The Legend of Dugu

The Legend of Dugu focuses on the Dugu sisters, who each marry into royalty. Our female protagonist is the innocent Dugu Qieluo (Hu Bingqing), who falls in love with and marries the founder of the short-lived Sui Dynasty Yang Jian (Zhang Danfeng).

Her ambitious older sister Dugu Banruo (Ady An) marries the emperor of Northern Zhou (Zou Tingwei), yet has complicated feelings for Yuwen Hu (Xu Zhengxi), the powerful regent of Zhou. Third sister Dugu Mantuo (Li Yixiao) and her husband end up being the biggest winners, as their son Li Yuan would later establish the Tang Dynasty and unify all of China.

I’m looking forward to the Dugu Banruo/Yuwen Hu pairing –  both of them value power above all else, and that’s going to make for the best type of angsty melodrama.

Talented young actors Li Landi (of cult hit My Huckleberry Friends) and Hu Xianxu (Nirvana in Fire II) play the younger counterparts.

Tony Leung forms an alliance with Kris Wu, Tang Yan in Europe Raiders

I’ve heard some good things about the other two Raiders movies though, so let’s hope he doesn’t turn an action flick into a snooze fest.

Yang Zi, Deng Lun have an awkward meet-cute in new trailer for Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost

The latest teaser for fantasy romance drama Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost features Yang Zi as Jin Mi, an innocent deity who is about to injure the phoenix deity Xu Feng (Deng Lun) to retrieve his magical internal pill and increase her own powers (thankfully he wakes up just in time to prevent the act).

The female protagonist is a bundle of cuteness at the beginning of the novel, though the story takes a sharp turn into melodrama territory after Jin Mi believes Xu Feng killed her father. (Extended Synopsis)
