She Was Pretty remake stars Dilraba, Sheng Yilun

Because Dilraba is sooo unattractive.

In yet another Korean collaboration, She Was Pretty will be remade starring Dilraba, Sheng Yilun, Li Xirui, and UNIQ’s Kim Sungjoo.   Korean companies co-producing remakes of their own dramas in China have tended to dump their second-tier production teams on those productions, but at least all the leads speak Chinese(ish) this time?  Plus, who can say no to more Dilraba?

Plot from wiki, with names sino-fied:

Li Huizhen (Dilraba) was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family’s publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships then lost her beauty too. Bai Haoyu (Sheng Yilun) was an unattractive boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome and successful editor.

The two decided to meet again as adults, but Haoyu  was unable to recognize Huizhen . Ashamed to meet her first love and ruin his perception of her, Huizhen  asks her attractive best friend, Xia Qiao (Li Xirui), to appear in her place. Things, however, soon get complicated as Haoyu was assigned to work at The Most magazine publishing office where Haoyu  is the deputy chief editor. He openly mistreats and belittles her for her clumsy nature, not knowing that she was his real childhood friend. Xiao Qiao also continues to meet Haoyu, and soon develops feelings for him. On the other hand, Huizhen  finds a good friend in her workplace, Lin Yimu (Kim Jongsoon), who slowly falls in love with her.

  1. Who’s Dilraba? I’ve never heard of her before. Is she Chinese or Korean, her name don’t seem to fit either Chinese or Korean naming customs.

    • She’s from Xinjiang, hence her name comes from the Uyghur language. She made quite a big splash online playing the second female lead in Tang Yan’s Diamond Lover.
