Ah-Cheng the Disguiser X Alexander Hamilton

He knows when to wear  a trench
Ingenuitive and fluent in French
No one has more resilience
Or matches my practical tactical brilliance

Check out this bio from a fan,
about Ming Lou’s right-hand man,
The Disguiser rewritten,
to the beats of Hamilton.

Triple Agent Ah-Cheng-ge
adapted from lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda

How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a
Southernman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten
Spot in an orphanage by Providence,
impoverished, in squalor
Grow up to be a hero and a scholar?

The blue-collar foster brother without a father
Got a lot farther by workin’ a lot harder
By bein’ a lot smarter
By bein’ a self-starter
By eighteen, they placed him in charge of a perfume charter

And every day while slaves* were being slaughtered and carted
Away across the waves, he struggled and kept his guard up
Inside, he was longing for something to be a part of
The brother was ready to bomb,  burn , or become a martyr

(*in the Chinese national anthem is a call to arms for “slaves”)

Then a Hornet came, and devastation reigned
Our man saw his leader fall, fallin’ down, Cigar slain
Put a salute to his temple, swallowed all his pain
And he went on the first train, to Leningrad to train

Well the word got around, they said, “This kid is insane, man!”
Took up a collection just to send him back to mainland
“Get your education, don’t forget from whence you came, and
The world’s gonna know your name!
What’s your name, man?”

Triple agent Ah-Cheng-ge
My name is triple-agent Ah-Cheng-ge
And there’s a million things I haven’t done
But just you wait, just you wait

When he was born, his father left, full of it, debt-ridden
Few days later, see Ah-cheng left in pain, hunger-driven
Half-dead, sittin’ in his own sick descent
The scent thick
And A’cheng got saved but his mother returned quick

Moved in with his mother, the Lone Wolf beat him on the inside
Left him with nothin’ but ruined pride, somethin’ new inside
A voice saying (Ah-cheng) you gotta fend for yourself”
He started retreatin’ and readin’ every treatise on the shelf

There would’ve been nothin’ left to do
For someone less astute
He would’ve been dead or destitute
Without a cent of restitution

Started plannin’, runnin’ for the Lone Wolf’s landlord
Studying’ chemistry and art and other things he can’t afford
(Scannin’) for every book he can get his hands on
(Plannin’) for the future, see him now as he stands on
The bow of a ship headed for the homeland
In Shanghai you can be a new man

Triple agent Ah-Cheng-ge
We are waiting in the wings for you
You could never back down
You never learned to take your time
Oh, triple agent Ah-Cheng-ge
When the Republic sings for you
Will they know what you overcame?
Will they know you rewrote the game?
The world will never be the same

The ship is in the harbor now, see if you can spot him
Another proletariat comin’ up from the bottom
His enemies destroyed his rep, the Republic forgot him
Ming Tai/the Japanese:  We fought with him
Ming Jing/Liang Zhongchun: Me? I died for him
Minamida: Me? I trusted him
Me: Me? I loved him
Ming Lou:  And me? I’m the damn fool that shot him

What’s your name, man?
Triple agent Ah-Cheng-ge

"Then you walked in and my heart went 'Boom!'"

“Then you walked in and my heart went ‘Boom!'”
