The Legend of Xiao Zhuang releases trailer

I get that you are running out of ideas on hairstyles but this is ridiculous.

The Legend of Xiao Zhuang has released a trailer and stills.  Starring Jing Tian, Geng Le, and Nie Yuan, let’s just say say that with the exception of Twilight of the Empire, it’s been a while since the outlook on upcoming Qing dynasty dramas has looked so bleak… and I am tired of overused plot devices… like doomed young love… and unreasonably feuding adults… and unexplained and persistent unconditional love…

… anyhoo, more stills below the cut.

Seeking an even more baffling hairstyle than the coat stand (see above), chime tree ornamentation was the only way to go.

Chime-tree-hair girl and gong-chest boy, perfect for each other in ways only your wildest percussion dreams can imagine…

You think I get outside much?  Do you know how hard it is to do ANYTHING without this mess behind my head getting caught in something?!?

They act like we aren’t going through a recession and the price of gold isn’t going through the roof…

After dumping Ken for Blaine, numerous occupation changes, and dozens of makeovers, Mattel now introduces Qing dynasty Barbie in their latest pursuit of corporate profit.

  1. Couple comments here:

    1. If you have read any of my previous posts, I tend to try to make my posts humorous. I would like to apologize if my humor insults anybody. They are not meant to offend but simply to get amuse and get a laugh or two out of our readers. I am simply trying to poke fun at Mattel and Barbie. If my humor is really that insulting, please explain specifically how my humor is hurtful to other people so I can try to learn.

    2. While everybody is free to have their own thoughts and ideas, please moderate comments that are not fact and involve more personal opinion. This holds true especially when they involve more subjective concepts such as “ugly,” “beautiful,” etc. and EVEN MORE SO if they may be hurtful to other people. While everybody is entitled to their own opinions, it is generally disrespectful to hurt others who have not directly done you any harm and may not even know or have any relationship to you. Please make efforts to re-read what you write before you post to make sure it is not offensive to other people and always try to have the humility to apologize.

  2. Please stop promoting the concept of Barbie (which is a fake doll) is mean and not nice and implies false western superiority (should separate and put on western channel, not this one). 95% of Chinese guys and girls do not like Barbie, do NOT like Barbie. This Barbie concept is abusive and getting off topic. Note: Chinese girls all look different from each other and not the same. The Chinese costumes for different dynasties have a lot of variety and look totally different. Those four Chinese actresses in this new Chinese drama look a lot more beautiful and more slender in real life than an ugly fake and fat Barbie. Please note that embroidery and silk are really good and a ton of other clothing related things were invented and created in China and obviously, the Chinese girls have different figures and different faces, not the same at all. You are not judging the females not right in this show and they obviously look very different from each other. Some girls have longer faces versus others have rounder faces versus different size eyes, and different weights, shapes are not the same!. The hairstyles and colours look different as well. Caucasian actresses are fatter and not beautiful (and look the same then!!) but use digital alteration in fake pictures, and Barbie is not slim and girls who look like Barbie are ugly and not lovely. Also, black hair is the most beautiful and is way better dyed red or yellow hair-yellow hair on Barbie has nothing to do with what people look like.

As a Chinese Asian girl, I have a more beautiful and slender figure and nicer face than a Barbie doll. Barbie is not appropriate analogy for a great and sacred ancient Chinese drama. Could you please correct the analogy and delete that word Barbie which is whitewashed in a bad way!! Barbie was invented by caucasian people in the States to try to compete and harm lovely Asian Chinese girls who moved to the United States (a long long time) before I was born.

  4. Hahah, well-said! The females in it look so similar, like Barbies, that I get confused and have a hard time understanding the trailer even though I’m chinese myself and good at facial recognition XD

    • To: Cfensi and singleswan – The Legend of Xiao Zhuang seems to be a great and beautiful Chinese drama and the trailers should NOT be associated with annoying and inappropriate western dolls such as this aggressive and BAD and IRRITATING Barbie concept. She did NOT dump Ken for Blaine. Please note that Chinese Asian actresses (the ones that I like) have more beautiful faces (with or without a makeover). These amazing Chinese Qing dynasty costumes and other period costumes were invented and created by Chinese people first and BEFORE the evil concept of Barbie was started. Please stop promoting the concept of Barbie who has a ugly Barbie face with dozens of makeovers and ugly figure, this doll is mean and not nice and is a bad influence in Asian children and adult’s minds (should separate and put on western channel, not this one). The Chinese costumes for men and women look 10 times more exciting, polite, professional, and conservative. On the other hand. Caucasian models look ugly while half dressed, are not professional and use fake plastic surgery and digital enhancement in fake pictures and videos. Children (Chinese Asian girls) should be taught to play with better dolls that promote ethnic heritage. As a young person, I am smart enough to know that parents and teachers who are not Caucasian should not be whitewashing their children with this annoy Caucasian doll. There are hundreds of nicer and more fun and interesting toys for female children. On an unrelated website about Chinese dramas., please stop mentioning, talking this word “Barbie” which is harassing and bothering me.
