“Has anyone told you” that Chen Chusheng disappeared on New Year’s Eve?

Chen Chusheng's self-composed "Has anyone told you" was downloaded 16,564,460 times through China Mobile last year. That's 12 million downloads more than its runner-up, Jay Chou's "Rainbow,"more than one third of all of Jay Chou's downloads (36 million) and more than all SHE songs combined(14 million).

Although you can hear Chen Chusheng’s voice on at least 16 million cellphones in China, you won’t hear it on Chen Chusheng’s own cellphone, which has been turned off since the night he disappeared on New Year’s Eve.

In the midst of  good news for him, including winning the award for the most popular ringtone song, coming out with his new single, and and being praised by Han Hong as the one young artist she liked, Chen Chusheng disappeared during the rehearsals right before Hunan TV’s New Year Concert. He told his assistant he was going to the bathroom, and was never seen again. EE Media says that they have contacted his friends and family, but no one reported knowing where he is.

Has anyone told you, music and lyrics by Chen Chusheng

Chen Chusheng says that he prefers simple music over packaged ones, because the packaging hides the deepest emotions of the song. The songs he composes are generally simple yet beautiful, with clear rhythms that touch the heart.

Two weeks ago, he has just released his new song, “One Person’s Winter.” He is also in the middle of recording his new album. But now, with him gone, all scheduled promotional activities for him have been canceled until further notice.

Earlier reports said that he brough a plane ticket to Beijing. However, in the most recent update, qq entertainment claims to have had an exclusive phone interview with him, where he states he is not in Beijing. He has given no answers to why he left or when he plans to return. You can here the interview here.

Like CFensi and Han Hong, I believe Chen Chusheng is one of the shiniest stars of cpop.  Hopefully, he’ll come back from his one person’s winter soon.

  3. I do, too.
His fans are also quite annoying, bashing EE Media like its all their fault…they’re ruining both EE and CCS’s image
EE Media says that they’re going to seek legal action against him for ruining their company’s image and leaving without telling them.

  4. apparently he connected to them through a friend or something…no idea…

Wei Chen said he was going to call him, though.

  5. After.
The interview came out sometimes between the time I went to bed on Tuesday and when I came home on Wednesday.

  6. “qq entertainment claims to have had an exclusive phone interview with him”
was this before or after he disappeared?

  7. speaking of suicide and depression, my korean classmate yesterday just commited suicide from depression. apparently she hung herself.

  8. @ Wendy
The original post was one about the ringtone awards…which I thought was interesting since he beat Jay Chou and SHE by so much.

We were going to put it up with the Han Hong article after the New Year…but then he disappeared…

as for the weirdness. Depression seems to be a trend among Chinese competition singers…Jam Hsiao said that he thought about suicide in the past(?) two months…and He Jie and BOBO’s not feeling to cheerful, neither.

  9. Aww, that’s sad!

Doesn’t look like suicide if he had a plane ticket, and if he were kidnapped, you’d think someone would be asking for ransom by now. I mean, what else do you do if you kidnap a celeb? $Ka-ching!$

I do hope he was just trying to take a breather from the paparazzi, but it seems like there would be better ways to do so without scaring the fans. Anyways, hope he gets found. His songs sound nice.
