Xue Zhiqian Reveals New Song For…Chinese Chess? + Other Performances

December 20, 2009

Xue Zhiqian sang his new song, “Chu He Han Jie” (not on his recently released compilation album) , which apparently is the themesong to… the end of the year Chinese Chess tournament in Shanghai.  Poor Xue Zhiqian. Why does Universal suck so much at finding promotional opportunities for you? Composed by Xue Zhiqian, and lyrics cowritten by him and the charmain of the chess organization. I really hope Xue Zhiqian goes back and edits the song, because his lyrics are usually better.

Top Combine and Yu Haoming’s New MVs

December 16, 2009

Yu Haoming – I’m Not That Hot MV (the new and improved version where he plays an assassin, and Liu Xijun plays his love interest)

Thanks to  urasiansourceCpop @ty for being crazy fast with this. I don’t know why eeMedia released all their MVs at the same time, but I guess they did.

Top Combine’s below the cut because it’s uh…needs to be taken in slowly.

eeMedia Family’s Winter MV

December 15, 2009

The thrice previously posted on eeMedia MV for their 2010 theme Kuai Le Chu Fa – has been released!  It was composed by Top Combine’s Ma Xueyang, which I imagine is cheaper for eeMedia than last year, where they hired Da Zhang Wei (the flowers) to compose, and frankly I like Ma’s better. It suits its purpose – it makes you want to start bouncing around while you put up holiday decorations.

Top Combine’s 1st Album “Qi Tian Da Sheng”

December 14, 2009

I’m putting this up here because it’s an AMAZING album with contribution from all the five members which is so rare for a boyband’s first album. If they keep up the improvement since their first EP these kids will be amazing. Top Combine’s Ma Xueyang composed and wrote  four tracks, and the other four members each wrote lyrics for a song. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this, and there’s a good variety of songs, from ballads to fast tracks.

Please support them if you like the album and buy it!

Tracks starting with track three (because most people have heard the first two tracks). I’d listen to all the songs though because they’re all good.

Track 3 Guang Mang – Composed by Ma Xueyang about the friendship of the five members

The nine other tracks below. All thanks to PrescitedEntity@yt.

New eeMedia Family Winter MV being made

December 2, 2009

Like last year, eeMedia’s filming a year-end MV although this time it’s only with Yu Haoming, Wang Yuexin(!), Top Combine and Pan Chen and Pan Hongyue. But that doesn’t mean the behind the scenes pictures are any less fun to look at. I think I gained like five new ships. They even have me shipping Wang Yuexin/Pan Chen now. Madness. Sorry for the lack of Jin Ensheng and Zhang Yuan, hopefully other pictures will come out soon.

And slightly related if you want to watch:  Top Combine MV Teaser came out.

Yu Haoming Releases Album with ‘Hugs’ from eeMedia family

November 25, 2009

Usually there’s one or two hugs at a album release, but Yu Haoming’s release of his first album, “Hug” was filled with them, which made the whole affair very cute.  It included those from Wei Chen and Zhu Zixiao, the supporting H2 of Meteor Shower, and from his two favorite girls – Zheng Shuang and Liu Xijun. Top Combine, whom he trained with in their early days was there to support him as well.

Lu Hu Composes for Top Combine’s 1st Album

November 19, 2009

TC: Thanks Lu Hu...sorry you haven't gotten your own album yet. It's not our fault...we Love you dearly though. Ma Xueyang: Hey I composed a hit song for these guys too, don't look at me

Tian Yu/eeMedia really hit the jackpot when they signed on Superboy Lu Hu. Despite not having the best voice, he  so far has composed hits for his fellow  Wei Chen, Jiang Yingrong, and Zhang Jie, and has induced many members of the eeMedia family to also begin composing. Now for Top Combine’s comeback, he wrote their first single, “Qi Tian Da Cheng”, which alludes to the most internationally recognized  of China’s Four Classics - Journey to the West, and the “Monkey King” choreography reflects that theme. In addition traditional Chinese instruments were used, such as the pipa.

Top Combine ’s 1st Live Performance of new song “Qi Tian Da Cheng”

Lyrics below, and the original Journey to the West themesong for nostalgic reasons.

Kimi in the MV for Window of Dreams on his upcoming album

Releases from mainland female Chinese artists were spread out throughout this year, but a considerable portion of the male side seem to have waited until the last minute to release, causing an massive pileup of both albums from the soloists to the boybands, ranging from pop to grunge. Despite the spectrum in musical styles, this still can’t be good for the artists, nor the companies  involved which I listed alongside the artists, and as you can see, there’s a lot.

Late November

Hunan TV takes up foreign diplomacy

July 18, 2009
chinesebridge

If only the distribution of Hunan TV's viewers was like this.

After taking over entertainment from CCTV, Hunan TV seems to also be gaining increasing responsibility in foreign affairs in the TV world as it hosts everything from the CCP-KMT party forum to Chinese competitions for foreigners.

First up is the more entertaining competition. Chinese Bridge is a collaboration with the Chinese national Hanban committee. The preliminaries are hosted in various countries around the world, with the top winners going on Hunan TV for the finals, where they’ll make many Chinese ashamed at their lack knowledge of their own culture. Present at the opening ceremony of Chinese Bridge are , of course, the five boys who bridged cpop and  kpop and the four boys who hopefully will do even more for bridging Chinese entertainment and the rest of the world.
