Yu Haoming Releases Album with ‘Hugs’ from eeMedia family

November 25, 2009

Usually there’s one or two hugs at a album release, but Yu Haoming’s release of his first album, “Hug” was filled with them, which made the whole affair very cute.  It included those from Wei Chen and Zhu Zixiao, the supporting H2 of Meteor Shower, and from his two favorite girls – Zheng Shuang and Liu Xijun. Top Combine, whom he trained with in their early days was there to support him as well.

Chinese Box Office Soars and Wang Xiaoshuai Goes Commercial

July 11, 2009

The Chinese Box Office just keeps climbing and climbing. For the first half of the year it reached 2.3 Billion in revenue. The overall box office for the year is estimated at 5.5 million which would show a 32% increase from last year. This is the sixth year in which it has sustained a 25% + growth. Considering that number is  a percentage, China’s BO’s ability to maintain it is very impressive. And now formerly indie directors are finding that there’s no reason to stay indie.

Sixth Generation Indie Director, Wang Xiaoshuai who was last heard lashing out at commercially-successful Chinese directors, has apparently decided he has had enough of sitting on the sidelines when everyone else is taking advantage of China’s film goldmine. He plans to shoot a  romance film set during the Sichuan Earthquake with a $60 million yuan budget, and says he would like to cast Han Geng. He gave choices for leading ladies as Jiang Yiyan, Tang Yan, and Gao Yuanyuan.

Han Geng Article about Rejecting “Chinese Hana Yori Dango” is False

December 1, 2008

And this is why I keep emphasizing you can’t trust everything you read. Not only do people write things with biases, but also some people just plain make up stuff.

Stage of Youth Preview + NGs + Wrap Up Celebration Pics

November 19, 2008

It’s basically like half mainland stars and half EEG people. What…is the point of Kenny Kwan? His acting looks so exaggerated, and while I don’t really seem to mind Joey Yung and Yumiko Cheng’s accents when they speak in mandarin, his bothers the heck out of me. That + the exaggerated acting is very, very painful to watch.

I have a feeling I’ll be disappointed with Zhang Junning’s part…he just looks pensive in this, and it doesn’t seem like his role is very big. And he seems to be paired with Yumiko. Ugh. I’m going to fast forward to those parts anyway.

/useless commentary about a show that I’ve posted too much on.

Edit: Whoops. I put up the wrong video before.

Edit 2: Wrap up celebration for the series took place at Han Geng’s mom’s new restaurant. Junning looks cute peering over Han Geng’s shoulder in the background. More pics.

Han Geng and Zhang Junning Filming Dance Scenes Together

November 14, 2008

3eaa58e7cfe06e32b93820f0

I’ve been waiting forever to find pictures of these two dancing together and this is it I guess. I must be the only one who is going to watch this not because of Han Geng but because of Zhang Junning, even though I like Han Geng too. Zhang Juning shot to fame last year when he landed a coveted role in  Five Star Hotel, a Hai Yan drama series. He’s also pretty passionate about dancing, although he never had too much formal training. Zhang Junning seems to be trying to be a triple-threat, with acting, dancing, and sometime soon singing, which was expected since he was a music major at university. Let’s hope he lives to that potential because he’s tremendous eye-candy. More pictures below.

Chinese Celebrities When They Were Young

November 9, 2008

I said I would do a special fun post in exchange for someone making my banner when site hit 10,000. Well, here it is as promised, although nobody ever made me a banner. :( This is still incomplete…I don’t have a few people in here, and I wanted to put an after pic of everyone, but I got way too tired of that so I only put some for some people I didn’t think people would know (like all the mainland guys apparently), but eventually I will update this and make it the most comprehensive Chinese celeb baby picture list ever.

Love or hate her, you’ve got to admit Liu Yifei was one of the most adorable children ever.

More of cute adorable children behind the cut. I think it’s really rare for Chinese people to do plastic surgery (as of now) so this won’t be one of those “spot the differences” posts. This took a lot of time and effort to put together, so PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND POST ANYWHERE ELSE, w/o permission.

Hunan TV will remake Hana Yori Dango/ Meteor Garden

November 4, 2008

Using the “Superboys”.

I’ll update this post and this site with more details as I get them.

I was always wondering if mainland China would film its own Hana Yori Dango. If you follow mainland Chinese television, you quickly come to find that there are the state-wide CCTV productions, which like expensive big-budget series with casts that attended drama universities, etc and then there are the provincial productions like Hunan TV who don’t get quite as much money, but don’t have the restraints CCTV does, about providing moralistic drama with meaning, etc. If China were to have a large amount of meaningless idol dramas, they would come from these local, provincial level stations. So here we are, at the possibility of Hunan remaking Meteor Garden using their “Superboys” aka “Kuai Le Nan Sheng” (the Chinese American Idol-type series for those of you who don’t get my constant references to this).

Han Geng and Zhang Junning Start Filming Dancing Drama

October 14, 2008

Today there was a lots of news all semi-related to each other and all involving hot guys so I’ll take this one at a time.

First of all, CCTV is starting the production on a new autumn drama (basically fun, non serious drama like the lunar new year movies, but for tv), called Stage of Youth, which may as well be an idol drama, with its cast. It is about competitive dancing, with Han Geng, the only Chinese member of the Korean boyband Super Junior in the lead as a dancer. Zhang Junning is playing his rival. Both have dancing experience, with Han Geng having graduated from a dance academy and Zhang Junning having learned dance for the series that brought him to fame, “Five Star Hotel”, and was a contestant on “Strictly Come Dancing”. He didn’t win that but I’ve seen him dance on variety shows and I think he’ll definitely be able to pull off this role. And the fact that he’s one of the hottest guys I’ve ever seen doesn’t hurt either. The drama will be twelve episodes.
