I like this blog… I’m interested in Chinese entertainment too but am too lazy to go read Chinese websites (which are sometimes inaccurate and require reading Chinese chars) and I look for general coverage instead of information on specific artists, so this blog’s awesome for my desires.

I think this site has congregated a group of people who are antagonistic to certain parts of Korean culture, because Korean and Chinese entertainment are both growing and more interdependent than a lot of other cultures in Asia. Thus, you see a lot of the ways Korea affects Cpop, Cmovies etc. And it’s not that positive of an influence.

For my part, I really, really dislike the way Korean companies are treating China like a cash cow, when China is in the midst of developing its own music. It’s very damaging to Chinese entertainment, and I dislike the trends in Korean music entertainment so I hope China doesn’t get affected and go in the same direction. And I am a bit annoyed, because since I’d rather Chinese money go towards developing Chinese music, I actually am rooting for packaged idol groups when I really don’t like them. Kpop has made that crap necessary just so China’s market share doesn’t get lost.

But I don’t really think anyone hates Korean stuff in general. I like some Korean music, but more of the old stuff like H.O.T and Moon Heejun’s current stuff. I like some of the catchy stuff in Kpop, but I really don’t like most K-ballads or K-indie (I’ve yet to care for anyone under Pastel) . But I do try it if someone recommends it.
