Kimi’s MV for Window of Dreams

December 16, 2009

I wasn’t whether I should wait for Kimi’s other two MVs to post  but I decided to anyway because thematically, this MV is different from the others. This one reflects Kimi’s deal with promoting Windows 7 in the China market, which might give some knee-jerk reaction, but commercialism is rather embedded in Asian pop culture, even for rock bands (see Mayday’s Fang Si). It also got Kimi appearances on Hunan TV, promotion he needs because Chengtian reportedly spent a ton on perfecting the album.

Mini Pic-spam below of Kimi from his release because he has such pretty Chinese Opera-like features that always makes me stare.

“The Myth” Drama Version Theme Songs

December 15, 2009

A while back it was announced that Jackie Chan was producing a drama version of his movie The Myth, and picked Hu Ge to play his part. Hu Ge’s probably sick of ancient dramas at this point, but it’s hard to say no to a Jackie Chan offer (just ask Wang Leehom!). Bai Bing takes over the main female character in the drama, and together she and Hu Ge continue the tradition of singing the lovely themesong. over again.

eeMedia Family’s Winter MV

December 15, 2009

The thrice previously posted on eeMedia MV for their 2010 theme Kuai Le Chu Fa – has been released!  It was composed by Top Combine’s Ma Xueyang, which I imagine is cheaper for eeMedia than last year, where they hired Da Zhang Wei (the flowers) to compose, and frankly I like Ma’s better. It suits its purpose – it makes you want to start bouncing around while you put up holiday decorations.

Top Combine’s 1st Album “Qi Tian Da Sheng”

December 14, 2009

I’m putting this up here because it’s an AMAZING album with contribution from all the five members which is so rare for a boyband’s first album. If they keep up the improvement since their first EP these kids will be amazing. Top Combine’s Ma Xueyang composed and wrote  four tracks, and the other four members each wrote lyrics for a song. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this, and there’s a good variety of songs, from ballads to fast tracks.

Please support them if you like the album and buy it!

Tracks starting with track three (because most people have heard the first two tracks). I’d listen to all the songs though because they’re all good.

Track 3 Guang Mang – Composed by Ma Xueyang about the friendship of the five members

The nine other tracks below. All thanks to PrescitedEntity@yt.

Gong Li In January 2010′s Harper’s Bazaar China

December 14, 2009

Gong Li kicks off the New Year by appearing in the January issue of Harper’s Bazaar China – China’s longest established fashion magazine. She’ll be turning 45 next year, but it’s hard to tell from these. Li Yuchun also snagged the January cover for China Vogue, but as much as I’ve grown to like her, it feels wrong to put her in the same post with Gong Li so maybe later.

New Girlgroup Idolgirls / Ai Duo Girls- Start of the Girlband Wave in China?

December 13, 2009

I was not going to post on this girl group, because I had no idea if they were going to last- they don’t even have an MV out yet. However, a fervent commenter alerted me to the fact that this girlgroup was posted on allkpop.com, and furthermore, with a picture that wasn’t even of them, of someone else  in SNSD outfits, just to bash.

Ok, so first, the second picture of them wearing the sailorsuits, is of COSPLAYERS who aren’t singers at all.  These girls are a different group, with only the member  number 9 the same, a  number that both Morning Musume (Jp) and Hey Girls (Tw) had before SNSD. And SNSD is not really that popular in China – all 3 groups have about the same popularity in China, aka, not a lot –    only around 3000 registered fans at their baidu.

Chen Kun’s 3rd Album “Mi ME” Pictures

December 12, 2009

This was an abruptly announced entry into the packed December release schedule. Chen Kun is known mainly as an actor, but he worked his way through college by singing in bars, and has previously released two albums, Osmosis (2004) and To Come True Once Again (2006). Now after a very busy and successful year in films and television, he’s releasing his third album. Previously he had a mellow, rnb/jazz sound (his favorite genre), but the direction here seems completely different.

Jane Zhang’s new song and random news

December 10, 2009

While Jane’s busy doing various things (she’s in Tokyo right now?), her company Show City Times is releasing its first album for Super Boy Wang Zhengliang late this month. Not a big fan of him, but he’s from our favorite Music Conservatory and has a good voice.

More interestingly, Super Girl Pan Chen is joining Show City soon. It’s uncertain she’ll sign a record or management contract, but at least we know she’s not in the girl group.

Yu Kewei was a little faster and signed record contracts with Rock Records this week. She was promised an album in 100 days, which means she’ll probably be the second 2009 Super Girl to release a new album. Listen to a new song by the first album releaser Zeng Yike here.

A day later, Li Yuchun also signed with Rock Records for releases outside of mainland. Does that make Yu Kewei her elder? Her latest album “Li Yuchun” will be released in Taiwan late this month. Her second self-composed/written/directed MV has also been released.

BOBO Happy Camp most watched show of the night

December 9, 2009

BOBO was on Happy Camp last Saturday, helping it to be the number one watched show of that time period. Watch part 1 here and part 2 here. Interview translation of BOBO below the cut

Zhang Jie and Li Yuchun will appear on the next two episodes of Happy to promote their new albums next. Who’s excited for some Zhang Jie-Xie Na interactions? The preview made me lol so much when Zhang Jie pretended to be his picture that always appears on Happy Camp when he’s mentioned and said “what does that have to do with me?”
