While they completed their marriage registration in April, the Japanese F4 member Abe Tsuyoshi (Li Zhendong), 27,  and his bride, Chinese actress, Shi Ke, 29, finally held a ceremony in Beijing (holding the ceremony that long after the registration is common in China). Abe is part Chinese, born in Heilongjiang  and studied for one year at Beijing Film Academy and has acted in both China and Japan. They met when both cast for the 2007 movie, Stand in Love, which was produced by famous Taiwanese ballad singer Jeff Chang and directed by up-and-coming young Taiwanese director Chen Yingrong. Both attended the ceremony, and acted as their witnesses.

China Open Comes to a Close While The Game Gets a Boost From Entertainment

October 9, 2009
peng-1

Peng Shuai advanced to the Quarterfinals of the China Open. One of her old coaches was Michael Chang, whose tried to boost popularity for the game in China by guest-starring in Prince of Tennis Season 2.

Like a lot of other sports, tennis has risen in China quickly due to greater funding for it over the past years. This year, with $4.5 million  in prize money, the Beijing China Open is now for the first time a mandatory, top-level WTA Tour stop. But the sport is also getting boosts from entertainment stars who are helping to push it into the mainstream consciousness. The China Open is in its final rounds, and Jane Zhang  and Yang Kun recorded a song for it some time ago.

(This was before Universal started making her look  trashy…go back to Hua Yi Jane, not the  let’s-remake-songs company!)

Peng Tan and Chun Xiao Wed in Wuhan!

October 8, 2009

So many weddings this year! Peng Tan, formerly lead singer of Dada band and now soloist, has married his girlfriend, model Chun Xiao, after a very lovey dovey year together. They were first spotted together at his New Year’s mini concert and now, on 10/05/09 they’ve married in western style by the river, in Wuhan. I’ve really hated the mushroom hair  he adopted ever since they started dating, but I’m happy for them nonetheless.

I don’t think I ever posted their duet together “Our Little World”  that was recorded shortly after they went public in the beginning of this year, but I think this is a good time to.

The New “Dream of the Red Chamber” Cast Dances on Water in Shanghai

October 7, 2009

As if they haven’t thrown enough money into this project (50,000 yuan per episode, for 50 episodes) the production behind Li Shaohong’s upcoming Dream of the Red Chamber prepared a water and lights ballet version of the drama that was performed October 3-5 to coincide with the mid-autumn moon festival, in Silver Pickax Lake in Changfeng Park, Shanghai. It featured bursts of lights, water and fire surrounding the actors as they danced above the lake. The show will be performed again for the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

Clip of the part where Baoyu realizes he got tricked into marrying the girl that he doesn’t love.  If someone does find the whole thing, please tell me!

Fan Bingbing Photoshoot for “Fashion Weekly”

October 7, 2009

163_11591_243605

I’m unfamiliar with Fashion Weekly (风尚志) magazine, but I guess these are for Wheat promotions? Wheat’s not doing very well at the box office, trumped not only by Jian Guo Da Ye (The Founding of a Republic) and Feng Sheng (The Message),  but also by My Fair Gentleman, which is getting very positive reviews for both the movie and the acting from Sun Honglei and Kelly Lin (Lei Zu He!), and a sequel is already in the works.

I’m again backlogged with posts I want to do, so going to try to catch up from this past week and may be going in reverse chronological order.

Super Girl photobooks, part II

October 4, 2009
Ôøéó¿É

Anyone else see the Vanessa Hudgens resemblance in this photoshoot?

The rest of the Super Girl photobooks (Huang Ying, Jiang Yingrong and Pan Chen) have been released. Of the three, I could only find the cover of Pan Chen’s photobook. Overall, I was a bit unsatisfied with the photoshoots. Though very pretty, they didn’t really show the personality appeals of the girls – Huang Ying’s simple, childlike cuteness and Jiang Yingrong’s infectious happiness sprinkled with sexiness.

Also, I think the Vanessa Hudgens -ness is a sign that Hunan TV should do more musicals, though with people who can actually sing. (more…)

Jiang Yingrong sings Beat the Mic Themesong

October 2, 2009

I don’t have much time to make a real post, but here’s a have a fun song for the weekend and relax. Even though the lyrics about someone who doesn’t sing well wanting to sing anyway don’t fit Jiang Yingrong very well, they fit me perfectly, and I’ve been singing along to this quite often this week, especially the parts that are Peking Opera influenced, and yes, there was some air erhu playing.

The song was by composed and written by Lu Hu. <3 Lyrics below in Chinese . I wish I had the time to translate them because they are awesome. Nepheliad translated them below in the comments! Yay!
