There’s a tons of news each day, and I’m pretty backlogged, so I though I should point this out as a quick-mini-update, in lieu of an actual update. Another Chinese boyband in addition to the rest of the ones popping out. Will the madness ever stop?
Hit-5 “Hit” MV
That’s three that I know now, who are debuting/waiting to debut.
Edit on 10/25. I added profiles. For some reason, despite my love for the superboys, and TopCombine’s association with them, I want Hit-5 to succeed more. It doesn’t seem as Korean influenced.
Beijing’s Idol Factory Entertainment, used two years to creat HIT-5, which already officially made a debut on October 20. Duan Huangwei, Gao Yu, Yang Fan, Dong Yufeng, and Guo Zi will create new music in mainland’s music scene.
Duan Huangwei/Gold
A very open and warm singer. He is partial to R&B and likes British R& B singer Craig David.
Gao Yu/Fire
Gao Yu is the lead dancer on the team. His physique allows for quick movements. He’s very energetic and often likes jumping for joy. Gao Yu deeply loves dance, and likes listening to dance music. On stage you can certainly feel his passion when Gao Yu uses all his energy.
Ze Meidao (Real name Yang Fan)/Water
Born Jan 26, 1990
I don’t know much about this one, but he looks like Eddie Peng, which is a very good thing. He’s apparently the pretty boy of the group…I guess even more so than the others.
Dong Yufeng/Wood
Dong Yufeng is in team’s baby, the most lovable. Dong Yufeng is the indispensable one on the team who balances everyone and is simple in his happiness, giving everyone a warm feeling.
Guo Ziyu/Earth
The Leader of the group. Guo Ziyu is the rapper and oldest of the group. He’s also the calmest. The members believe Guo Ziyu will lead the HIT-5 to achieve great things.
Edit:
Oh and this is a Zhong Guo Feng (Chinese Style) Man Hua comic version of them according to their baidu. Doesn’t look like them at all, but I thought it was such a beautiful drawing and Chinese hanfu are Gorgeous.
First performance.

I welcome boybands as long as they have talent. I wish they could think of better names though…
October 22, 2008 at 10:54 pm
I think one or two is good for the youth of a society, but I used to like Kpop, and then it got flooded by idol groups and now I can’t look at them without shrinking back in fear.

I like Hit-5 so far, they have a lot of potential, however I really don’t like the way they sing their choruses :/
they all seem to sing on the same pitch, and it sounds just like one mishmash of voices. In that way, they are similar to Fahrenheit (who I don’t like as a music group, due to their general lack of talent in dancing and singing)
I also hope for some adlib in the future
October 26, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I think Hit-5 will go farther than Fahrenheit simply because Fahrenheit doesn’t really concentrate on music. They have shows and acting that they also focus on. I don’t think dancing is required for a group however.
November 2, 2008 at 3:56 pm
I actually like them (mainly based on their looks), but I am kind of iffy on the song itself. They do have potential though.
November 29, 2008 at 6:23 pm
MeiZeDao has been pretty popular online.
I can’t really say much, but I feel like they might start disappearing. I used to like DBSK and Super Junior, but now I’m just like ehhhh -_-”
There are too many solo artists in China and I’m saying it’s a bad thing, but I feel like China needs to have more boybands and girlbands. The Chinese industry is dominated by Taiwanese bands such as F.I.R, S.H.E, Farenheith… sometimes I seriously wonder how come China doesn’t have its own? I do see a couple of boybands and girlbands here and there, but they sort of vanished.
I seriously hope China comes up with some potential girlband and boyband. Right now it seems like China is pulling alot of the people from singing shows etc.
Also, they should realize that many korean artists especially artists under YG, JYP, SM were once trainees.
I really hope China will make a breakthrough in the music industry.
November 29, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Don’t worry, these bands are staying. I think they can make more money than some of the other ones I’ve seen (like the girl group Butterfly who is hardly known), and those bands are still active, so I see no reason why Top Combine, or HIT-5 would disappear.
I really don’t know if I can take another one debuting though.
November 30, 2008 at 8:59 am
Are you sure the painting is of them?
I swear I saw the same painting except with the guys labeled as the My Hero guys…
November 30, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I pretty sure it’s not them.
I don’t think HIT-5 is popular enough to have anyone draw that of them.
But I just liked the picture too much to not post/pimp it. Chinese man hua with hanfu will never stop being beautiful. And I love the fact that in CHinese man hua, the characters look beautiful and Asian at the same time unlike manga.
December 6, 2008 at 6:00 am
no offense, but they do seems to be very Korean Influenced…..
December 6, 2008 at 12:44 pm
No offense taken because I agree, they’re THE most Korean influenced out of China’s new boybands. Top Combine may have trained in Korea but now I feel they’re still just regular Chinese boys. Except that one Korean guy of course.
I wrote this post a long time ago. And this is why BoBo has the biggest tag on this site…they’ll forever be the quintessential Chinese idol group in my heart. Although I do think HIT-5 is really too young to have their own style yet. They probably grew up right when the hallyu hit, so it’s more likely that they know people like TVXQ
December 25, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Wow! I like this band so far…I’ve been replaying their songs over and over again, and its stuck in my head!!
Yeah, I agree with Yilei…I was always kinda disappointed by how dominant korean and taiwanese bands have been in China…I wanted some CHINESE bands. I am chinese after all…chinese pride. =]
Glad that HIT-5 and Top Combine are debuting! Hopefully Hong Kong will release a GOOD band soon…seeing as it is dominated by EEG. =/=
I have a question though…have they officially released an album or single yet?
Thanks!!
January 2, 2009 at 7:17 pm
I seriously think they have a lot of potential. All of them make up for what the others lack…
Although they’re sort of weak right now I think they’ll grow in the future. It doesn’t hurt that they’re all so pretty xD
I think so sweet is better than their debut song, but hit is okay.
January 13, 2009 at 12:55 am
I think duan huang wei is really good at singing but I love gao yu the best.
January 14, 2009 at 6:39 pm
u guys know that korean isnt the lead in music so basically no ones copying anyone.. hip hop wasnt designed by koreans.
January 15, 2009 at 5:56 pm
I know, a lot of ppl are saying that hit 5 is copying Korean boyband. It’s so stupid.
koeran boyband doesn’t even attract me. so that just proves that they’re not copying.
February 14, 2009 at 11:53 am
I love hit-5. I anty Koeran. chi chi
I love Chiness.
February 19, 2009 at 3:50 pm
i love my chinese but nothing cannot beat the txvq. hit 5 is great but tvxq rocks. go tvxq.
February 20, 2009 at 11:05 pm
Hit-5 is new and they need more singing training I guess. They can’t be compared to an established band for the time being , they only came out with 2 songs so far.
February 21, 2009 at 3:17 am
I agree, it’s not fair to compare them to those boyband that’s million years old. so far hit 5 is doing well. I’ll always support them.
February 21, 2009 at 5:38 pm
Yes, I think people need to be rational about this, I could see trolls on youtube commenting on these guys and the other chinese band, guess they fear that the chinese will start loving their homegrown bands instead of listening to the foreign ones..lol.
February 22, 2009 at 5:24 pm
I’m kinda enjoying this raise in Chinese boybands; mainly because the Korean/Taiwanese music industry has dominated in China. I think that with time, and more training HIT-5 will probably make it big.
February 23, 2009 at 3:51 am
I know, ppl are saying how they’re copying the korean boyband, it’s so annoying. but they got yelled at by hit 5 fans and got scared away. lol…
February 23, 2009 at 11:26 am
are they the same as A-ONE?
is HIT-5…the same people as A-ONE?
February 23, 2009 at 2:06 pm
No, Hit5 is a 5 member group and A-one is 3+X group. A-one has 3 permanent members and the rest are trainees that will be chosen by how good they are. That’s what I’ve been told.

A-one
February 23, 2009 at 8:20 pm
nope. they’re completely different. I don’t know much about A- One though but each member is suppose to represent some bug/insect. it’s kinda weird.
February 23, 2009 at 11:19 pm
lol
March 13, 2009 at 2:53 am
do you guys know any good website of hit 5 besides this one. This is like the only website that actually has some info about hit 5. I really want to get to know them but there’s like no information that I can find.
March 13, 2009 at 4:34 am
Hit-5 haven’t really done much after Happy Camp. They went on a couple of internet and radio talk shows and that’s pretty much it. However, there are rumors about HIT-5 starring in a new idol comedy from Hunan TV. The drama’s definitely real since one of Hunan’s scriptwriters have been writing about it. However, it seems unlike that Hunan would give the job to HIT-5 when they can give it to their own Top Combine. But then, Hunan did give lots of air time over to SJM. And it might want other stars to join to lose its Super Family-base camp image.
I don’t know an other English sites, but if you find one, please tell me. For Chinese sites, their baidu tieba:

i hope hit-5 releases a new mv soon
March 14, 2009 at 3:25 am
I don’t like top combine very much. idk why but I just don’t.
April 22, 2009 at 10:35 pm
DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They are soooooooooo F’n fine!!:D
April 23, 2009 at 6:45 pm
H.I.T probably the best looking group in asia
but needs more training…their singing and dancing is not that great..
true they all have the same pitch haha
April 24, 2009 at 10:31 pm
not necessarily! they sing really well but yeah the voice is pretty much the same. The Top COMBINe too, I heard their cotton candy, I couldn’t even tell who’s who, maybe because it was on IPod and not music video. the dance is good too. but I do agree they need training because you know, there’s always room for improvement. Gao is so freaking good at dancing though.
April 29, 2009 at 9:01 pm
I think Zhang Yuan’s voice is very distinguishable. The other guys, not so much.
April 29, 2009 at 9:24 pm
i can tell between zhang yuan and ma xueyang…and sometimes kenny
May 19, 2009 at 4:59 am
I don’t like Cpop but i think this group is better than Farenheith. That’s all
May 20, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Hit5- doesn’t sing all that well maybe except that one guy…David? or something with a D..lol
Top combine- No doubt Zhang Yuan’s voice is the best amongst the grp
Also the guy that raps in TC cannot rap live…it was awful O.o
Nontheless I think BOBO is the best, both members have great voices and they’re original =)
July 17, 2009 at 4:25 am
I like H.I.T-5 so much. They r handsome lahh. 55+
)*
So , i know Afan. He’s nice na. I mean habits of him.

August 23, 2009 at 4:59 am
i completely agree with “yelei.” i’m chinese but grew up in canada. however i have always feel attach to chinese music. but china doesnt have much bands…they are mostly solos… so i’m been fans of taiwanese and korean bands… as much of the girls… however i truly see potential in this band… so far… they have showed they have singing and dancing skills and of course the “look”
